Reconstruction of a severly compromized maxilla

  • Teeth were lost (21 22 23). A significant portion of the labial bone was lost.
  • A temporary maryland bridge is placed. A large quantity of acrylic is placed to compensate tissue loss.
  • The entire labial plate of bone disappeared. Defect 16mm wide, 15mm height, 5mm depth.

  • GTO was placed on top of the ridge with successive layers.
  • 2 implants NP 3,5mm were placed and well stabilised (ostell value above 70)

  • An additive layer of GTO was placed in labial position.
  • An additional layer was placed in a saddle position to gain in vertical as well.

  • Second stage surgery 4 months later. Implants were still stable (ostell 74) and before soft tissue manipulation (Palacci flaps), GTO was added in a coronal position to gain in vertical.
